hello everybody i have a couple quick questions about seperating the tranny from the power director. i have a 1957 d14 and i need to repair my pto shaft engangement. i think the pin might have broken because the lever just flops around i tried to pull the lever out of the tractor housing but i wont come out. so either pin is still stuck holding everything up or something else broke. i have yet to pull of the handcluch lever to look inside. i was reading my service manual and the information is pretty lacking.does the power director lever and housing cover come right off? if i have to pull the tranny does it just slide apart because manual states to pull the shifter and pull a set screw but the shifter is no where near the tranny bolts to the torque tube. my final question is on the snap coupler lift i know the pump is in the torque tube but how does it get the fluid to the ram is the an external pipe or is it internal of the tractor. and is there any thing i should be carefull about when i am splitting the tractor?
i just want to let you know all help is very appriciated

You will have to pull the shift lever off, pull the side plate off and remove the set screw on the PD shift fork.  Then you can remove the PD lever shaft.  After this you will have to remove the pin on the snap coupler and everything else that will interfere with splitting the tractor.  I just split a D-14 a couple of weeks ago and I had it split in a couple of hours.

I think you can do the job with out splitting. I twisted      front pto shaft and took it out and and gears and put back . Worked through  hole in  side  and in front of pto gears, also pulled  rear pto .It is pretty close work . ps Mine is a 57 D/14.

If the roll pin is broke in the PTO shift lever you will have to split the tractor to replace it.  While in there replace O-rings on PD lever shaft, and PTO shift lever.  The pin in the snap coupler would be the large pin that goes through the front of the bell.

Easy way to get snap cuppler pin back in is to push it out with 5/8 or 11/16 deep well socket and leave socket in snap couppler bell. When putting back togather push socket out with pin.(use socket same size as pin or a little smaller)  MACK

Remember that pin is tapered, so it will only go one way.  Dave.
