How does a unstyled WC compare to a CA as far as width, weight and length? Would really like to have an unstyled WC but wonder if it will fit on my trailer. I have a CA that will barely fit between the side rails, so if the WC is any wider it wouldn't go. I pull with a Toyota Tacoma, so weight is another consideration. Thanks, Tim

Wc's are pretty wide the one i pull that i put 9bolt 38 inch rims on wich narrowed it up 6inches is still like 76 inches wide

Terry Dean's book says 65"-76" rear tread width.

Weight with most everything thing on the tractor would prob only be about 3200lbs without calcium

Just measured my unstyled one on steel wheels is 77 and 3/4 inches wide

WC unstyled wheel tread is 65" or 76"

WC styled wheel tread is 65", 68", 73", or 76".

Shipping weight 2700 lbs on steel and 3300 lbs. on rubber.

CA shipping weight is 3000 lbs. with dual front wheels and 3100 lbs. for adjustable.

CA wheel tread 52", 56", 60", 64", 68", 72"; or 60", 64", 68", 72", 76", and 80".

I could not find and wheel base.

Thanks for the replies, my CA must be about 68" as the trailer is a little under 6'. Joe(OH) has 38 unstyled in the classifieds which would be a little over a 500 mi ride one way. Would be a nice weekend trip. lol

I've moved a few WCs around, and been vexed by width... I solve it by bringing an impact wrench, a hi-lift jack, some jackstands or cribbing, and a few chains... roll it over to a tree and chain the axle about 4' away, so it can't roll away... block the front tires, jack up one rear and put it on a stand, same for the other, and swap the wheels to reverse the tread width... I also empty out any liquid ballast, and once it's on the trailer, I'll let the air down so that the tires don't want to kick sideways off the trailer. I screw planks down on the trailer deck to prevent the tires from moving sideways... and I usually stack a few for height, so there's no way the rim can bounce over 'em.

Weight will be a factor for the Tacoma, but not nearly as much in the HP range, as it is just in the center-of-gravity and balance category- you want a trailer that'll keep the tractor low, so it doesn't sway. Also make sure your trailer hitch point is proper, so that the trailer runs level, and so that you have sufficient, but not excessive tounge weight... and of course, make sure you have good working trailer brakes.

Finally... go slow. Take your time... stop frequently and check the tiedown rigging, tire pressure and temperature... leave lots of stopping distance, and don't try to accelerate it out of an oscillation... and if people doing stupid stuff starts to wear you thin, pull off for an ice-cream cone and talk tractors with locals.

Is your Tacoma powered by a 6 or 4 cyllinder engine?

I have a 6 cylinder 4x4 Tacoma with an access cab. I have pulled my 18' equipment trailer loaded with 7,000 lbs & another 1,100 lbs in the truck box. I calculated that the load weight plus the trailer weight totaled 9,350 lbs and I had no trouble traveling thru the hills of NE PA.

the wc is a wide sob. barely fits between the fenders on my trailer.
