I have a 8070 p/s that is extremely slow engaging reverse.  Wnen you first put it in reverse you can feel it trying to move and sometimes if you are on level ground it will creep ever so slowly. When it does completely engage there is no slipage at all. Sometimes it seems, (might just be my imagination) that if you rev the engine up and then slow it down quickly it will engage sooner. All other gears seems fine. Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks!

Until you connect gauges on the reverse clutch and the inching clutch for reverse and come up with some pressure readings, there's not much anyone can tell you. I'd guess you have 4,000 plus hrs on it and it's starting to show it's age. Make sure the clutch pedal comes all the way to the top and the inching spool is pushed all the way in (within .030" of bottoming) when the pedal is up. Acts up much more in High range than low range, right??

Our 7060 p/s did that once, and it was in the inching clutch.  Been a long time, not exactly sure what it was, but pretty sure it was in the valve.

It is a 9000 hr, loader tractor, abused daily until retirement last year. Thought I might get the trans problem worked out if it was something simple and use it as sprayer tractor.

If you take off with no load it will take off ok and will never slip or as soon as it moves 3 foot it is ok. (RIGHT)   MACK
