Yea I was there. He won the class Friday to make the finals. Only shot we had to see an orange one win. Other then that its a Christmas show of Red and Green. Really gets old seeing 6030s and 1466s pull at every pull, in every class, on every level. Really dont prove anything winning with a red or green one. Make the rules to fit,and bolt on what you need, and you can be good with a red and green one.

From the video not a unheard of event on the NTPA circuit. Amazing how fast the big boys of pulling can get a tractor back up and going. Seen them before were they have physically split the block to the point were you could see a 4 inch gap.

I tried to listen to the announcer, Did he say the tractor belongs to Al Koch of Indianapolis?

the D-21 was the Entertainer out of Indianapolis, IN. owned by Al Koch.

yes al koch and john lancasters tractor. The rules are set up equal as far as cubic inch and weight. ! major problem is the old 426 block cant take the same abuse as the otr colors. The Entertainer had valve train issues the other nite. And apparently was a little lean on fuel as It detonated. Not a huge deal. Al and John are 2 guys that have been around for along time and are some of the best there is. there also 2 of 3 guys who were the 1st to put 4 turbos on a super stock pulling tractor.

I was there and saw it.. kinda disappointed as well since that was about the only orange, though I did see a 180 pull on friday. The rest looked like a christmas display! oh, and I wasn't too far from you as I was about two sections to the left at the very top of where this video was taken.. -Wes

I've seen plenty of green and red ones on youtube that have split the block in two throwing the top 2/3 of the block up through the hood and on to the ground. I don't think Allis has any more problems than a red or green one. It's just that Allis has been gone for more than a generation now and that means fewer tractors and fewer with the interest to pull Allis. Back in the heyday of Allis in the 60's and 70's Allis was king on the pulling circuit. I was pretty small to see much of it but I've worked with older red fans that told me all about how Allis was the one to beat back then. Allis pullers were the first to put multiple turbos on their engines if I remember right.

Looks like it went a little lean. It is comeing down to who can hold the most pressure between the crankshaft the the block deck. We can build girdles and run tie bars from the girdle to the head to add some strength. We can buy or build cylinder heads to feed any of these engines. We can use large enough turbos and coolers to keep the intake temp and pressure in line and keep throwing methanol in to make up some of it. But when one little thing goes wrong, parts go into orbit no matter what has been done to prevent it.
I hope it didn't lift the head or wreck the block, hopefully just popped the intake off and has some fire damage.

Neither me nor Al run any kinda of tie system to hold the block together. We are not running the huge boost like the diesel tractors. In the light super class intercoolers are not allowed for a alchol tractor. Al told me he thinks it dropped a valve then detonated. Not much any of can predict is when a valve is gonna come apart.
