Thanks to everyone who is assisting me with this restoration. I appreciate the help. I am bringing in the front wheels on my G now, first brought over the spindle supports to set the tires at a 48" spacing, matching the back. Now of course the wheels are pigeon toed and I thought this would simply be a matter of loosening the lock bolt that is located on the spindle arm and jacking the front end up and twisting the spindle. It will not budge. I am not sure which spot to attack. I have tried knocking in the tie-rod into the socket which is stubborn and not budging and also tried twisting the spindle with a pipe wrench. Is there some trick to this that I don't see? The only mechanical inhibition to this thing moving seemed to be the lock-bolt, but spindle will still not turn. |

Takes patience. It it the tie rod that needs attention. Don't clamp on tube. You need a solid way to hold it. Might use heat, depends on the severity of rust. Patience, patience and lots of love and Kroil. Good Luck, Tracy Martin ------------- No greater gift than healthy grandkids! |

-Tie rods look somehting like this. YOu remove the clamp on the center tube, soak the threads with penetrant oil, then screw it in or out to "toe" the tires.-
