I know McMaster-Carr has Pal nuts. And many variations on lock washer. www.mcmaster.com

Gerald, I have not found a grade 8 with internal star locking. They are 5/16 diameter. Thanks Tracy Martin

I needed 1 and got it at the local hardware store. My mains didn't have nuts, it has bolts. Book states that they came both ways, changed by serial #. My local hardware store also has the palnuts. That stuff is in the pull-out tray boxes. Bob

I see them not rated by grade, only by hardness and there is a heavy duty version
http://www.mcmaster.com/#91150A113 I don't know what the ASME standard that's referenced says about strength or plating. It would take a tough washer to cut into a grade 8 nut or bolt.

McMaster says their grade 8 bolts also meet ASME B18.2.1 like those heavy duty internal star lockwashers. But so do grade 5 and grade 2 bolts. Grade 8 bolts are said to Rockwell C33 hardness, while those heavy duty lock washers are C44 hardness.
