I'm still confused about where to start with my hydraulic system on my G even though I was sent a manual from some very nice people from this forum (Thanks Charles and Judy!)  I have heard that the PTO needs to be engaged in order to run  the system but what I know of as a PTO is not found on my G... is it hidden in the transmission?  How do I engage it?  Also, I can't for the life of me see how the fluid comes into the hoses, I am told it comes from the transmission fluid, but how?  My plan is to replace the transmission fluid but when I have the system drained should I take the opportunity to do something to the hydraulics?  AS you can see any advice would be helpful.  Thanks so much.  JK

You could take a picture of your G on the left side by the rear axle and put it here. That'd help all of us. My G has the PTO pulley, though I think you could have only it or the hydraulics, though someone here WILL know for sure !!

John, the Hydraulic pump goes where the PTO used to go.  The PTO engagement lever activates the pump.  You can have a PTO only, or A Hydraulic pump only, or you can add a short PTO unit to the pump to have both.

John, You are correct.  No where on the Model G will you find a traditional PTO with a splined shaft to which implements are coupled.  On the G, "PTO" means a pulley where either a flat or v belt is driven to power implements.

John, from rereading your post, I gather that you have a Hydraulic pump on the tractor.  So I am thinking you don't have the PTO.  The engagement lever is short, and attached to a shaft above the pump.   The lift lever is under the left side of the seat.  the oil draw from the transmission is internal to the pump and transmission.

Guys, thank you for your patience, what you all are describing to me is what I expected and understood from the manual.  So, assuming my internal pump is good and my system is just jammed up what steps should I take to loosen it up?  Take off hoses?  There is a mechanism (unlabeled in the manual) which seems to control the hoses from the lever (where the control rod from the lever meets the hoses)... Should I take that apart?  Or is it a fluid issue?
