Rim widening advice ?

I thought that I asked this before but couldn't find the post. I'm putting 30.5 tires on my 210 so have to widen the rim which we do in our own shop. I'm leaning towards adding the width to the outside of the mounting ridge. I also plan to install an outside 1100 lbs Tyler wheel weight and would prefer if the weight did not stick out past the tire. Any thoughts, pictures, or advice? ------------- Nothing is impossible if it is properly financed |

That be a good picture of how it is done. My Dad had that done to the wheels on his Oliver 77 in the 1950's when he was pulling. Not quite that wide.
 He added two inches the same way on 38 inch rims. |

This is what we did for our combine.We added 10 inches,from 18.4x26 to 28x26.The only thing I would say is tack everything in place, mount rim on tractor and spin it to see if it straight.You can keep stitch welding it in various places, but keep checkingit till your confident it's OK. Put a block of wood on the floor near the lip of the rim, and watch how much the gap changes as you are turning.Hard to get perfect but you wont be superstocking it, will you.LOL. When you cut the rim apart, try not to go too close to the lip;the more material you have on the small piece the straighter it will remain.We cut it with a plasma, lot colder cut than a torch. I am no expert, I watched/helped my brother, he is.HTH. |

Norm is right that the cutting is the secret. Have done many here before as well. Looking for advice on where to add the 6" and other people's experience on the same size rim. ------------- Nothing is impossible if it is properly financed |

| Easy way to cut rims streight. Take 2 roller skates weld a light frame between the two the width of inner rim. Mount plasma cutter on frame where you want to cut. Roll acrose the shop and cut. Works good. MACK |

| I bought combine rims and cut the center out then welded a chunk on the drop ctr. The rims with the cracked centers are cheaper. The thing I don't like is the cast center is out farther on the axle. Maybe on shop built ones you can put the off set in a better location to keep the "wheel" next to the axle hsg. |
