Was there one at Rantoul? Or was that a 90? I think that was a 90 at Rantoul. I saw an All Crop 72 with corn head sold at a farm auction Nov 11, 1967. The only time I have ever seen reference to a 72 with a corn head was a number of years ago in the Allis-Connection classifieds. I think it was in the late 90s. I just remember seeing it and wishing I had the money for it! Jim |

| The guys at R&R equiptment had a pull type with a corn head on it. I cant remember if it was a 66 or 72. I had corn next to their operation 1 year and tryd to get them to let me use it. I didnot get to use it. |

Just asking, to use the corn head you have to take the reel and all its attachments off. Which means there should be an easy way to do that/ |

i've taken the reel apart. The Sheave (pulley) appears to be married to the shaft, Thewr was no set screw in it and it will not budge. The next idea was to take the whole assembly off. There"s a rod (threaded at both ends) at the base of the reel bar and reel bar brace that holds them in a bracket. Got the impact wrench out and got the inside Not off but the the rod does hot want to pull out.
The reel shaft is bent and we were thinking we could get a piece of steel tub the same diamater and make a new one, hubs the real attaches to are welded to the shaft. I don't think the hub the sheave is bolted to is welded to the shaft but I'm not sure how is attached. There is some kind of pin or ring inside the shaft on that end I was wondering if there was some way of pinning the hub on from inside the shaft. My son thinks the hub might be welded on but I cant see any evidence of of it being welded. You can see orange paint inside the set screw hold so I don't think there was ever a set screw in there.

The parts book shows there was a setscrew in the hub of the belt pulley, it also is keyed to the shaft. Have you tryed heating the hub up ? Probably going to take some heat to get that rod on the brace out to. How bad is the shaft bent ? You might be able to straighten it out without taking it apart if you put some heat where its bent and do some tweaking.
As far as a cornhead, they are hard to come by. And they basicly went on the combine and stay there. You didn't switch back and forth. I looked at the parts catalong and the assembly catalog before starting on the reel. The hold hub area was coated in old grease. After getting some of the grease off I found the no set screw thing. I'll probably end up getting a torch to try and heat it with. I Ton't think the shaft is badly bent and I may try and straighten it. |
