The distributor on my forklift  quit spinning  and I can't get it to come out so I can inspect the problem. I can pull out about 3/4" and feel it "clunk" against something solid. The Forklift is a Allis-Chalmers FDX80-24. I've been told that the X denotes diesel but is a 6 cyl propane. It has to be the propane engine for that model because it fits like factory. The engine has absolutely no tags or markings of any kind. When I run the distributer part number on the delco-remy website it says obsolete and says it's for a 4 cylinder. If I could at least identify the engine I could get a distributer somewhere. So far I can't even get out the distributer. The forklift is old but in very good condition, lowhours, we use it every day and can't be without.n Any ideas?

Can you turn the distributor as you pull it up. I can't think of any reason that it shouldn't come out unless there is some built up deposit in the casting or worst case a broken cam section. Try pulling the valve cover and see if all the rockers are moving. This will show a broken cam if they aren't moving. You'll need to snap a picture of the engine and some details before anyone could guess the engine. Most AC lifts had several engines avaliable and it's possible it has had an engine swap in it's lifetime.

The engine will be the A-C (Buda) 230 or 262.

Nothing is impossible if it is properly financed
