today i finished the 3pt to draw bar adapter for the disc.(dont have a 3pt on it yet) hooked it up and tried it out in the horse arena, the thing pulled it like it wasn't there. the disc is a homemade tandem disc 8 ft ish wide. the mf 1547 hst i normally pull it with pulls good in low but not fast enough... and i felt like i was killing the poor thing. now i need to put wheels on the disc it pulled it in 4th buried to the bearings dont need to go so deep. long story short i love my masseys but feel like im cheating on her loving this allis, i somehow dont feel bad about it either.

The D-17s are awesome tractors. Other than getting on and off they seem like a modern tractor.

i noticed that getting on and off is a little tricky. also a little tight in there especially when in low. oh im 6'5" but hey i dont hit my head on anything. i heard people say you can kill the diesels quick with improper on and off's, how long shoule i idle it before i shut down? any other tips?

I try to give the head a few minuets to warm up especially when it's real cold. The early 262's also had too much oil pressure at start up and could damage bearings. There were some engines that had an extra relief valve added into the oil supply line from the pump to help this. regardless I try to limit my revs when cold to allow the oil to get some heat too.

At shut down I let it idle near 1000rpm's for 30 to 60 seconds before shut down. More if the water temp is over the low end of normal range. Idling too low ruduces the air flow over the radiator and the flow of the water pump to near no productive movement. To avoid leaving a hot spot in the head this is crucial.

This is all relative to conditions and temps.

Nothing like hearing it run under load. These 262 6 cyl's really sound good. I know I love mine.
