| i am looking at a 1976 175 diesel and it has a AC500 loader on it. one cyl. on the loder leaks and the left break pedal on the tractor is froze up i dont know if it is just the pedal on the shaft or something internal. other wise on a scale of 1 to 10 10 being very good i would rate it 6.5 what do you think it is worth? it shows 4489 hrs Thanks for your input Tom. |

We had that exact setup back before Uncles auction. I thought that was a very good tractor/loader combination. Tractor is light on the rear end with a large bale or heavy manure, will need balast or weight. We even had the hand clutch lever on the left side of the housing so that you could use the hyd and hand clutch simultaniously. The clutch handle was yellow but I know it came from the AC dealer back about 1980. Good little hayin tractor.

| For my use Gas is good, not running enough to worry about efficient engine, same power, and easy/cheap to maintain. The bonus is my "rare" [LOL] is limited production unit, I figure in 60 more years someone is going to have to pay big$ to let it sit in there museum! |

| A gasser in very good condition would be slightly less money around here in the northeast.. ..and generally have less hours and in better overall condition. Fuel usage probably kept them in the shed. There are 170/175s advertised for much more than 5K... there is one in Pittsburg that is 8.5Kw/o loader... been for sale close to 9 months.. it will not sell for that money. Interesting how the sellers say low hours when the hour meter is in the 3k range. Being that the 175 has a mechanical tachometer/hour meter, running my 175 around 1000 rpms ..like I do around the barns...feeding & cleaning...... I figure the old girl has more like 7000 hours on her.... hour meter shows but 3600 hrs. If I used the 175 for PTO work(rated PTO speed) it would burn a considerable amount of oli. I just keep the RPMs in the 1-1.2k range, change the oil every 100 hours and dump some Lucas oil treatment in the crankcase... seems to do the trick. |

| What I have never been able to quite figure is owners of D17/4's typically would be offended with any offer less than 5K$, this is assuming VG. Cond, needing nothing, hopefully NO loader [ we all know what loader work does to machinery]. Now comes along low hr'd, good condition 170/175's not able to demand 6.5/7.5K$? I guess because they are essentially the same machine, guess I answered my own question. I Like the 100 series platform and in a NY second [ money situation allowed of course] pay 8-9K$ for a one owner, well kept [sheded], original paint, 175G/D, I'm very biased, I feel 170/175 are a great size machine in anyones stable. |
