i have a early d17 and the snap coupler release lever and the brake lock lever arent made for a knob like most ive seen. Does this make it a series 1?  Serial number is D171154D thanks.

I looked it over they havent been modified.  The brake lock handle comes up and is curved no place for a knob looks factory havent seen another like it. the snap couple release is just a straight shaft no threads or nothing for a knob.

or the knobs just slip on shaft when i go out today i'll see if thats how they are. gotta haul some firewood with the d-17 today. i'll let you know.

My early D-17 has the knobs, Although a friends early D-14 does not have the knobs.

Maybe the real early ones did not have them?
