I have got a little snafu with a 1950 Allis-Chalmers WD. the pin that the hand clutch lever goes on is rust pitted bad enough to facilitate building it up with some 6011 welding rod and grinding it down. what I have found is that the pin is easily seen from the inside of the transmission case and according to my parts book is removable and there is a part number listed for the new pin. aside from using a brass punch and a hammer are there any special ways I can pull this pin out? I have found a good pin on another WD so replacement would not be a problem since I have a good used pin. any suggestions on how to do this feel free to let me know because I do not want to break the transmission housing and have to replace that or to damage the pin and have to go buy a new one (if AGCO still has it listed as a current part).

I used a hammer and punch from the inside as you suggested in your post to remove mine. I cut off a new draw pin (7/8 inch i believe) at the proper length and drove it in the hole with some sleeve retainer and it fixed me right up. To repair the handle I bored the hole out to accept a cat 1 to 2 three point hitch bushing and plug welded it. looks original and has a nice tight fit.

Hi, I replaced the pivot pin on our WD diesel last year when I rebuilt the transmission. I was able to get a new pin from agco as well as the bushings for the hand clutch handle. I was able to drive it out from the inside and drive the new one back in. Now I did have the transmission out so I had much room to work with. Just so you know new parts are out there yet.
