Have burnt up four voltage regulators on my tractor. New wiring, double checked everything, tried two generators two amp gauges. Wired just like my I600 which is wired like D15 Series II. At wits end any ideas appreciated.  Thanks

Have you flashed the generator after wiring and before starting the engine? A generator building with the wrong polarity can be hard on the voltage regulator as in burning it up.

Are you SURE the wiring for the D14 should be the same as the D15 and I600?

The I&T manual shows both D-14 and D-15 have same wiring,though D-14 is 6 volt. Page 88, figs 184, 185. That's for a series1 D-15.
Both use a 4 terminal regulator, series 2 D-15 uses a 3 terminal regulator.

Better check your Battery! Sounds like the Battery could be the culprit....

The shop that checked out generator suggested battery. I put new battery in ran additional ground wire directly from regulator to battery. Amp gauge shows 8 or 10 amps for about a minute then starts jumping from 0 to 8 or 10 then quits, regulator burn't up. One of the coils not whole regulator. About to give up wire in a cutout with resistor and switch.
