Hi, guys/gals! I hope I'm posting this in the right place, if not please for give me as I am new here. I just bought an AC 160 from the bank lot. I know nothing about it. The tractor is outfitted with an aftermarket front end loader (bushhog model 2425qt). My question is why does the hydraulic front end loader work, but the hydraulic lift (3 point hitch) not work? Is there a bypass or switch to flip between the two? Thanks in advance, and again If I am in the wrong area please accept my apologies before hand. Merry CHRISTmas.

welcome to the site.YOu probably have a secound pump on the tractor to run the loader.the one for the rear hydraulics is mounted on the side of the engine.the 160 we had always had to be primed if the hydraulics were not used.there is a screen that has four bolts on it right around the gearshift area,check the screen make sure it is clean and make sure you have enough hydraulic oil in it

Thanks for the welcome, and your reply. I see the pump mounted on the engine, I traced the lines to the rear where the loader hooks in with couplings. (Similar to how an air hose fits together with an air tool). I unhooked them just to see if the lift would work, and it didn't. I'm headed out to the garage to check the screen that you spoke of. Is there a dipstick to check the fluid level, similar to how you check the engine oil? Again, I'm a super noob, but wiling to read/learn :)

Guessing you have a spool valve for the loader? There is a hydraulic lever which will be tied back to operate the loader spool valve. You'll need to untie it to use the 3 point. The hydraulics to the 3 point are bypassed when the lever is tied back. Try this and let me know.

The hydraulic valve you need to untie will be directly in front of the gear shifter.

Thanks for your reply. I am attaching 3 pictures. The first one is a view from sitting on the seat. The second is some sort of tool that was "zip tied" to the tractor. The third is a different view of some type valve. It has a notch in it.

That is the correct valve. The part with the notch in it is what needs to be moved. it has 3 movements. it looks as though someone made their own lever out of some type of frame brace from a car or truck or something. you should be able to use a pair of vise grips or something to move that valve in or out. you want the valve in the center position.

Sorry it took a few days to get back with ya. My wife went into labor, and the rest is history. I rotated the valve and the lift raised. It also stopped the front in loader. I wish it would run both at one time, but I'm happy with the ability to switch back and forth. Thank you all for your help.
