A buddy of my has a FWA 8010.  He thinks it is a 1984.  The tractor will not move or barely move in any gear (high/low/forward or reverse). You can hold the brake without killing the engine.  It has the power shift trans.  The clutch pedal to me seems way different than my 8030 and 8070.  It is harder to move and just feels alot different.  Well after about 10 seconds, it will start to move and than normal until you clutch again.  If you hold the brake, you can kill the engine as it should when it is moving.  I noticed that when it is slipping, if you push the clutch an inch or two and let out real fast, it will spin the tires and take off with all kinds of power.  Looking for advice where to start.  Does it have a cable to drive the linkage or what.  Any areas to look at or inspect.  He thinks the tractor has around 16,000 hrs. How hard is it to change the clutch assembly out?? I got stands but never been in an 8000 series.  Any advice appreciated.  Thanks Greg

My first guess is a broken spring on the clutch pedal itself not pulling it all the way up. Second guess is a linkage problem related to the clutch pedal and PST valve behind the batteries, also not allowing full stroke of the linkage.

Let's update that to replace the clutch cable itself down to the PST valve.

I'll have him check out the cable.  How does this system work?  I'm use to linkage pushing a throw out bearing against the pressure plate.  I was curious also how pushing the clutch shifts it down to 4th gear.  Also the pedal is coming all the way up.  To me the pedal pushed harder than mine all the way thru.  Thanks Greg

Does it make a difference what gear you take off in?  If not I would say Dr. Allis has it right.  MACK

the cable in our 8050 started sticking spring two years ago and dealer couldn't get a new one for a couple days.  We needed to run so we took some heater hose, clamped to one end of the cable, filled with AFT and put an air fitting with 100 psi on the other end of the hose.  after about 10 minutes i could work it by hand and pushed all the rust out.  that was two years ago and the new cable is still sitting on the shelf.  of course it won't work if the strands are fraying but it might help if it's just rust or dry.

Has anyone used this company to make a cable?  Just wondering if you can save any money vs. AGCO if you aren't needing it quickly.

Air is a lot better than a drill and graphite , it will get very hot and the new cable will have to be put on. of course i'm speeking from experience.  Scott
