I recently posted about the AC-40 that I was after, well it has made it into the shed, so let the search for parts begin....
The cylindar bars appear to be in good shape, but the canvas, canvas guides, and reel  are missing (just the wood pieces of the reel, everythin else is there. Does anyone know of the measurements of the wood for the reel, and canvas guides? I also would be interested to hear from anyone that has built a canvas for the 40. I will try to get some pics on here as the project progresses. I would like to get it out in the field this June and July so a complete restoration isn't necessary until I get some wheat through it...then I'll tear it down and repaint. Any information or guidance would be much appreciated.
Thanks

I have an Amish group in the area and have had them to build canvas drapers for me. Need the size and they can do it. It would help if they had the bars that were attached to the old canvas as they can reuse them. But they can build wood bars also.

Tom Yaz may be able to help.  I know he has them for the 60 & 66.  He used to be Yazallcrop, but has changed his name now.

Here is his new site:  http://www.allcropharvester.com/

I did locate the serial number, but this one has been sitting in Kansas for at least 15-20 years. I think that it was a local sale back then though.

Welcome to the 40 owner's .  I have a 1940 #12156.   What is your ser#?   I had to make most of the wood on my reel,  I cut oak for the arms and used aspen for the bats.  Mine had been partly taken apart,  I got  parts from Zaz, Minnesota, Illinios, and here in Iowa.   Tom has manuals you can look at on his site.  I'm not an expert on them by anymeans , but I like to talk about them.   Call if I can help 319-572-0914  Don Mathews    Merry Christmas
