Hello, I am Mark Vaughn, owner of Vaughn Racing Engines in Bono, Arkansas. I am new to this forum and this will be my first post. When I am not building racing engines, my hobby is to restore Allis Chalmers tractors. I have a question regarding the oil pan on a WD 45. Where can I get the steel retainer clips which keep the end gaskets in place on the oil pan? Every gasket set I get there are no retainer clips. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or help in finding them.

I never used them and threw them away. First thing you do is find a small diameter tin can or jar or something and roll the arch gaskets up inside and leave them for a few days so they actually assume the shape. I used a can and clamped a piston ring compressor around the two of them for the next overhaul job so they were always ready to go. Silicone them to the pan and then glue the side gaskets with something that sets up quickly (3M weather strip adhesive) and be sure to put a blob of silicone between the side gaskets and the arch gaskets to seal the joint. DO NOT SHORTEN THE ARCH GASKETS. Rub a thin layer of silicone all over the top of the side gaskets and arch gaskets and install the pan while slowly & gently & alternatingly just snug up the bolts. Pay attention to the arch gaskets to keep them in place while just snugging the bolts until the glue starts to ooze out, using an ice pick or flat blade screwdriver. Let it sit for an hr or more and then you may tighten the bolts a litttle bit more and call it good.

You know, e-mailing at the end of a long day isn't smart for me. It's been so many years since I've done one of thse I almost forgot. All info is good, except 3M glue the side gaskets to the BLOCK and let dry....then silicone the arch gaskets (already preshaped) to the emgine with a couple blobs of silicone on the corner tips. Everything else is correct.

The clips come with a pan gasket set from AGCO. I use them and they work good for me. Use Hi teck on both sides. MACK
