Subject: Lost my dad today
Date Posted: 13 Dec 2011 at 7:33pm
My dad died today in a car crash at the age of 81. We all have been blessed with him being with us for the last seven years since his stroke, and God gave both of my daughters the opportunity to get to know their grandpa. God decided today that he was needed more in heaven then down here, so we must understand that this is God's will, but part of my heart has broke today knowing that I won't be able to spend time with him.

No words are enough, but I am very sorry for your loss. My Dad passed away quietly at home on Thanksgiving Day 2009 with me, Mom and Sister there, so I know how you're feeling. Still get choked up missing him, but smile a little more every day as I think about all the fun we had with, among many other things, old tractors. You'll always miss him, but have all your memories to cherish. And, we'll see them again someday.

Chuck,
I'm so sorry to hear this. I just lost my brother last Tuesday, so I know your pain.
I know you will miss him for a long time, but you will always remember him in a good way - with wonderful memories of your time together.
If it's any consolation, I found the book "Heaven is for Real: A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back" very comforting in knowing what a great life in heaven is waiting for all of us.
My prayers are for you and your family.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Sometimes a sudden loss is such a shock, it takes some time to deal with it. Reading this reminds me of July 9,2009 when my Dad passed when I had seen him almost jogging 5 days earlier. As time goes by, remembering the times you spent together will bring more smiles than tears.

Chuck, very sorry to hear about your dad. I lost my brother 2 1/2 years ago. It was very sudden also. You always think of things you would have said and done in hindsight, but that's just regret. Think of the things you DID do and say, as well as the things he did for you and said to you. It has helped make you who you are, and he is always as proud of you as you are of him.

I'm Still Here
Friend, please don't mourn for me I'm still here, though you don't see. I'm right by your side each night and day and within your heart I long to stay.
My body is gone but I'm always near. I'm everything you feel, see or hear. My spirit is free, but I'll never depart as long as you keep me alive in your heart.
I'll never wander out of your sight- I'm the brightest star on a summer night. I'll never be beyond your reach- I'm the warm moist sand when you're at the beach.
I'm the colorful leaves when fall comes around and the pure white snow that blankets the ground. I'm the beautiful flowers of which you're so fond, The clear cool water in a quiet pond.
I'm the first bright blossom you'll see in the spring, The first warm raindrop that April will bring. I'm the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine, and you'll see that the face in the moon is mine.
When you start thinking there's no one to love you, you can talk to me through the Lord above you. I'll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees, and you'll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.
I'm the hot salty tears that flow when you weep and the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep. I'm the smile you see on a baby's face. Just look for me, friend, I'm everyplace!

Chuck, sorry to hear of your loss. I have been gone (Daughter in Mondovi) and just saw your post. My heart goes out to you and your family. You had him for a long time and he will always be with you anyway. You just have one more angel to look after you. Make him proud in everything that you do from now on and every time there is a special thing that you used to do together, remember how he felt and how you are now making him smile. It takes a while, but you get over the loss. It is then the memories you cherish. I have had nothing but cherished memories now for 25 years. You have a lot of special family on here to help you get through this and to grieve with you. I will be thinking of you and wishing you the best till we get to see each other again this spring, unless I get the urge for a road trip sooner. God be with you and bless you always. Dad is watching you... and over you.!!

Thanks to all for the kind words. Dad had a heart of gold, but the autopsy showed that his aorta was severed from his heart upon impact, so he died quickly. The impact probably knocked him unconscious, so he never felt a thing. The Lord prepared our family in a weird way for all of this. My youngest daugther Hailey saw a cross the other day where there was an accident and had to tell me that was where someone died. I told her that they were with Jesus in heaven now and we don't need to feel sorry for them. She then told me that Grandma and grandpa were going to heaven before us. I told her that might be true, as they are older then us, but we never know when God is going to take us to heaven and we may go there before grandma and grandpa. I also told her that's why it is so important to give people that you love hugs and kisses each time you see them because we never know when God will call us home. So on Monday night, the girls both gave grandma and grandpa bigs hugs and kisses. Lina had to give grandpa his Christmas present she bought from school to him on Monday night also. It was a coffee mug saying "Worlds Greatest Grandpa". After we left grandpa asked for some tea and told my mom to put it in his new cup. So he even got to use his christmas present before the Lord brought him home. So this Christmas season, give each and every one of your loved ones a big hug and kiss because you never know when God will need to take them home.

Sorry Chuck, prayers sent your way.
I lost my Dad at 84 last spring, it is tough to be without our heros but as you said God gave your family the gift of the last 7 years after the stroke he survived to be with your Dad. Be at peace.

Chuck,
Sorry to hear about your Dad. No matter how old a person is when you lose them, it's still a loss. And it's probably a little harder too when it happens around the holidays. We lost my father-in-law, the one who owned the John Deere we picked up this fall, about this time last year, so I know it can be tough. My prayers for peace and comfort through this time go with you and your family.

Sorry to hear about your loss. My dad who will be 78 in Feb. was in a crash about a month ago and totaled his car, at least it was only a scare for us and we have more time with him. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Thanks to all for the kind thoughts and support. And also thanks to all that could come to the funeral last night. Dad was a very special man and touched alot of people's hearts. The line of people started at 2:45 and was steadily busy all the way till the service started. My dad would not want anyone else to feel sad, or hold a grudge. My sister Chris and Colleen went so far as to conta...ct the young man who was in the accident with my dad. My sister Colleen got his cell phone number and left him a message saying that none of the family holds anger towards him and that we believe he was an agent of God to take dad to his eternal home. She left her phone number and when he felt comfortable, to give her a call. He called her yesterday before the funeral started. He lives in West Bend, is married, has a four year old and his wife is expecting. They had a good conversation and she reinforced all of our thoughts that we couldn't be a true Christian and hold a grudge against this poor man. He did tell my sister that he was on the way to the post office to mail a letter to my mother that he had wrote apologizing for all that had happened. Hopefully the Lord can touch this young man and bring him closer to the Lord, that he may live a good honerable life and raise his children right, and make my father proud. I know his name was posted in the paper, and I tried to look up his information on Tuesday night. I was upset, and felt robbed. But after looking at all of the pictures of my dad, I realized that he had already been so blessed with a full life, and God must have needed him more in heaven then we need him here. He is probably up there welding up something for God, or cutting the Lord's grass, or he is cutting some firewood, and his eternal body is fit and trim like when he was young, and he can wrestle those large logs up on the splitter with ease, and not struggle. To all my allis forumfriends as we approach the holidays. Remember how quickly my dad was taken from us and taken to his eternal home. Each time you see your loved ones over this holiday season, give them big hugs and kisses, because we all don't know when we are going to be called to our eternal home. As I know many of you are keeping me and my family in your prayers, please don't forget to keep the young man who was also involved in this accident in your prayers. He has a young family and a baby on the way that need him and my father would be truly upset if this young man let this tragic accident destroy him and his life. May God bless each and every one of you this holiday season.

Ive been a Social Worker for 21 years and seen just about all the Dark Side I can use from people, its very heartening to see your response to this tragic and aweful event. I cant say I would be even close to as levelheaded as you and your family have been through this. I am not Christian, but am very glad to see that your faith guides you in such an elegant way...God Bless you and your family, Trev.
