hi guys, new to the forum. anyways, i got a 1939 allis chalmers WC gas tractor or rubber that im rebuilding, my problem is i dont know how to get the starter motor off. ive taken the collet bolt out of the L/H side of the machine, and it just wont budge. soaked it with WD40 and tried prying it out, but we couldnt make it move, any suggestions? or am i going about it wrong?. this was my great grandfathers tractor, so we have no manuals or parts diagrams for it at all. grandpa barely remembers how to work on it. any help would be appreciated

Two things hold them, the bolt you removed and rust. I have had luck with bumping the starter with the bolt loose or out, 12V helps here. Hardwood 2x4 and 4lb hammer needed sometimes but dont beat on it like it's unbreakable  as the nose is a casting.

I've had good luck with getting stuck ones out by soaking with penetrating oil around where it goes into the bell housing and then using a thin chisel as a wedge and carefully drive it into the joint from one side and then the other until it comes loose.

I have also had some luck bumping them with a rubber mallet.
