Saved this 1977  185D from the scrap yard today. Tach only shows 5 hours on it LOL! Looks  like it had power director problems...missing a few parts, but has some other goodies on it. Will have to check out the engine in the daylight.

7 pie weights

Looks like a replaced hydraulic pump....

That looks like a good parts unit.  I'm needing a ROPS and canopy, even what you have without the top crossbar and canopy will get me going, also 38 inch rims, tires and centers.
I see that it has the dual speed 540-1000 PTO.

So does that hole in the end of your shed serve as a reminder every time you come home to check your overhead clearance? LOL

It sure does John! Note that there has been no other damage for 4 years now!
S/N of this tractor is 10101....kinda neat.

Any idea what the story is on it?  5 hr seems awful low for something to be sitting around all these years.  Hope you can bring it back to life.

The seller said he got this tractor about 2 years ago as part of a deal on a crawler.  The old man in north Idaho that had it was in trouble both healthwise and financially....He figured  he was gone by now (one way or another). I'd say the tach and other gauges were  probably replaced about the time the pump was....and then other problems arose. All the sheet metal is pretty well beat.  I'd like to find the missing pieces, but they are probably long gone. It would be nice if I could fit this engine in my old 170.....

It looks like it has a little more than 5 hours on it!  Looks like you got some pretty good parts there though.

As I recall you have these weights already. Is there a complete set with this tractor also?
They've got to be a bit uncommon I would think.

Brian these are the 4483-1 weights for the D17 SIV, 170,175,180,185. I had not seen them mounted on 38" wheels before, but they appear to work when the wheels are reversed.  Unfortunately there are only 7 on this tractor.  I do have another set that came on a 170D that I bought...not sure how rare they are.

You have the hood, side rails and front end just a matter of bolting the engine to the rear end. Not sure if it bolts right up, someone should know?  A 301 to a mechanical power director, about like making the 100 series version of a d19d.
