Hoping to go get my loader soon and looking at what the tractor needs before putting the loader on.  Has a small leak up front and I think it's the front crank seal.  Was reading the post below on changing the pulley on the D17.  Does the same thing apply on the D15II?  As in the whole front end has to come off to pull that pulley and change the seal?  It's not a bad leak but would like to fix it before putting  the front pump and loader on.  Pulling that front end does not amuse me, I have the equipment to do it just would prefer not to.  Any advice welcome, Thanks.

On my D15, it had the right pulley on there, but it also came with a loader and a front pump.   Don't know if it had that pulley on before but if I remember right I sold the loader to a guy who was putting it on a D15 and I think he had the right pulley on his because we didn't have to swap them.
If it were me, I would replace the seal right now and do the work.   With the front mount pump going on there might be a hair more stress on that front seal and if it's already leaking it may leak more with the pump mounted and then you'll really be kicking yourself for not doing it.
All of these tractors are easy to work on if you take the time and make the right mount.   When I pulled the engine on my WD45 diesel, I made a big U out of angle iron that was welded good and set to fit over the outside frame rails.   I just bolted it on and it held it perfect and straight and rigid for a long time while the engine and bolster were being worked on.   I kept that same mount and when I just pulled the clutch on my D19, I reused it and welded it to a heavy steel dolley with four casters on it and drilled some bolt holes in it to adapt it to the D19's frame rails.   Once mounted it made a perfect splitting stand and I just rolled it forward, and used some timbers as dunnage for the rear half.    Once you take the time to make a proper stand, the front seal will be a piece of cake.

In the D2800 service manual they warn against using a conventional wheel puller to remove the pulley.  I don't know if this holds true for the D15 or not.  It would be good to get a service manual and see how they recommend the pulley be removed.

Don't pull on the outer flanges flanges. They break easily. I believe the pulley  has two holes, use those.
