Is the WC/WD starter physically bigger than the B/C starter that it doesn't fit, or is it the ehgaging gear tooth count that is different that does not allow them to be interchanged?

The WD/WD45 starter has 10 teeth on the drive gear and the B/C/CA have 14 teeth.  Rick

I appreciate the quick response, Rick. That's a huge help, thank you.

So, can you change the drive gears around??  Will this work?  Is the cone the same?

Ted... The starter drive gears can be changed around, but the nose cones have the starter bolt holes in different locations. I'm talking about the hole where the bolt and jamb nut goes. Which starter are you trying to end up with or make? Rick

Here are some pictures of a C starter and a WD starter nose cone and "inards" side by side.  The C starter is the shiny one and the WD is the rusty one.

Well...I thought i had changed them around before, but it's been a long time. According to the pics though,I would say not. Hopefully,I got the tooth count correct on the previous question! LOL!  Rick
