How far did you have to move the mains down to get that much stroke to clear by the cam shaft?

I have a D-21 and i pull it in the 9,10,11,13,000 lb class we pull 6 mph in the 10,000 lb class the 1066 dont have much of a chance. |

I have always wanted to put our D21 in a stock pull somewhere, we always did our fiield work in the high side 1st or 5th gear, I would love to put the cast duals on it, drop it into low 2nd or 3rd somewhere, set the throttle around 18-1900 and just walk out the gate waving. Don't know if it could do it, but sure wanted to try. Problem is now, we had the pump rebuilt last year, and dad had them put it back to "spec" it must have been a demo unit, pump was never touched prior, because it is still a horse, but not the horse it once was. all i know is he has rack and pinion steering, external oil pump running off the crank by a belt, oil tank and battery hidden in the custom front weight mount, big carb, smells like hes buring high octane. he says the big custom liners are touching each other on the top and welded around the top. he turned the block upside down and filled it with hardbloc and did a bunch of machining for the crank clearence. oh and he wins the pulls

No Andrew. You want a 21 . I pull a 21 in 12 mph Hot Farm, and if all goes right. I am putting it at 10,000 and 11,000 6 mph next yr. You can get a 210 down to 11,000 or 10,000 with a bunch of weight takedn off. A 190 would not work that well. I could sell you one of my 21's since your close or I can help you find something. yes it takes a 5 inch od sleeve to make 4 3/4 id bore . so they do touch but the stroke to get thart big is like the dr said . thats a challenge. i woould also like to know when i said stroke doesnt matter? i am the no replacement for displacement guy and stroke makes displacement. ------------- people if they don't already know it you can't tell them. quote yogi berra |

| In a 3 1/2 mph class, any D21-210-220 should work out well in 4th gear at 1700 RPM and then increase the throttle as you come down the track to maintain the 3 1/2 mph speed. To Jeff N : Where ever you are, you must have a bunch of sissies running the 1066's you claim to be no problem for a D21-210-220 to beat, because they are very tough to beat when set-up properly and with a good strong TA, they can add even more to their pulling distances. |

| I pull in a 12 mph class in Missouri and won the 9200# points race again for the 2nd time in a row with our D21 Missouri Mule but will tell you the 466 IH's and deeres are no slouches and are all a 426 can handle. You wouldn't want any thing less for a motor. The D21 is still the best chassis for pulling because you don't have the heavy rear that a 210 os 220 has and can fairly easily be put to 9000# range. Ours is at the 7500# and we run at 82- 10200#. Our 210 Agent Orange is at 8000# and was very difficult to get there but could be taken to the 9500# range without too much trouble (you will need to lose about 1500# more than a 21) and should be as competative as a 21. You will need some good tuning to take on a decent 466 with torqe thow. Doyle |

Hey Doc, I think it was a mph class the 10's were getting beat in. Which doesn't surprise me! The IH's have an advantage in an open speed type class and can run 15mph +. I only run around 14 mph with my 210, and the 12K they get me, but in the 14K they can't hack the weight, but I can so I can walk past their leader stick! ------------- 210 "too hot to farm" puller, part of the "insane pumpkin posse". Dr. Allis is right. The 1066, or any of the 66 tractors are tough up here pulling in Lynden and over in Eastern WA and Or. I have 24.5x32 rears and will most likely switch to 20.8x38. I pull a 21 in the 8 and 9 six mph class and I got the points in the 9 but not in the 8 class. I run 23.1x34 double cuts on that tractor. The 21 pulls real good at 9 and OK at 8. My Hot Farm pulls great in the 9000 lb at 12 mph in sixth gear. Its a little over 300 hp at 3000 rpm. I pulled that tractor in the 6 mph at 10 and 11 a couple of times with 24.5x32 and does good, but like I said I will switch to the 20.8x38's. Hard track tall skinny tires will do better I think. Sorry to say, you will find a 66 series tractor cheaper up in WA. and do really good in that class. Have fun and Happy Hunting. ------------- B 10 Custom. 24.5's take alot of power to turn, and throw lots of dirt in front of the sled! You will really gain by going to 20.8X38's

Well, I guess I should put my one and only pulling ribbon in a better place for safe keeping. I've mentioned before how I pull just for fun with our tractors set up just as they were on the farm. Mind you, they ain't stock but I don't get into moving weights, hitches,etc. So, imagine my surprise in June 2003 when I placed 3rd out of 4 tractors in 13,500 lbs with our 190XT at a distance of 219'0" beating out an IH 1066. Having operated a neighbor's 966, I know they are a tough horse which is why I was surprised. I don't know what, if anything, happened during his run because it was over by the time I had parked the 190XT back in our lineup. Dad had to come find me and tell me to go get the ribbon as he heard the announcement while I was still parking. ------------- "My name is Lionel and I'm an Allisoholic" |
