My son and I have a 1951 WD (Serial # 82,212) that we brought back to life from a fencerow. It has a snap-coupler hitch on it. Would that be original for a 1951? When did Allis switch from pin-hitch to snap-coupler on the WD's?

No, the Snap Couple hitch came out with the WD45. Many WD's were converted though.

I'm trying to come up with the serial number that WD's went from the old style head to the WD-45 style head. By the process of elimination, I know it is in the 82,-83,000 serial number range. The parts book gives me an engine serial number for the change over. What style head is on your WD?
