I want to verify the location of the fill plugs. I drained the hyd., trans and rear end and want to refill and flush. Is the hyd. dip stick a filling location for the hyd? There is one fill plug a few inches bag from the Hyd. fill plug - is this the tranny plug? and there is one larger plug about half way back - is this the rear end plug? Do I have this right?

I was planning on using hy-tran in the Hyd. and 80-90 in the trans and rear end. Could I use the hy-tran in the trans and rear end as well.

you are correct on the hydraulic fill. The 2 plugs to the rear are for the trans & rear which are 1 common space. I hope that you removed the drain plug on the bottom of the PTO housing. It is the lowest spot on th tranny. Bob

Yes to all. I put hy-tran in my 45 about 29 years ago. Some people say gear lube won't leak as fast. I don't have any trouble with leaks in my tranny or diff. I do have leaks in my hydraulic sump somewhere. A half quart a year hasn't made me get around to fixing it yet.

Thanks - is there three plugs for the tranny rear end? and one fill plug.

Is the dip stick for the hyd. also the fill or is the fill the plug a few inches back.

I likely missed one of the trans/rear end drain plugs.

3 drain plugs for differential and tranny and 2 fill plugs. There are 2 compartments but it won't run from one to the other fast enough to fill well.
Yes, the dipstick is the fill hole for the hydraulics. Hydraulics has 1 drain and the dipstick fill hole.
The plug just back of the hydraulic dipstick is the transmission fill plug.

There is also a 1/4" pipe plug at the bottom of the hydraulic control housing on the RH side of ther tractor. It is a good idea to drain the control on these old tractors as some "crud" can accumulate there.

Thanks for all the help. I have found all the plugs. The trans and axle plugs don't seem to thread back in very nicely. Could they be cross threaded a bit? The bind in spots when I thread them in. I cleaned up the threads with a brush to get out all of the crud.

Or is this pipe thread which tightens up? Or could I run a tap in the threads to clean them up? the plug threads look good.

They are pipe thread and need to use pipe threaders to clean.Do not believe they were machined very good to start.
