The local dealer has one. Its a fairly easy swap according to him. Id like to do it to ours someday.

I want to know too cause that's my plan. Either that or drag Dad's gasser 190 out of the weeds and put the diesel in her but that one needs a new hydraulic pump and the one bull gear got chewed up years ago from losing a bearing soon after hitting a deep hole in the field when I was moving round bales in 7th gear flying. Never go that fast in the field again. The heater/AC knobs in the 7000 series cab left an impression or was it a depression in my forehead.

I,am probly giong to do it also from what I have gathered I need to gain 4 inches in frame maybe because it has the four belt crank pully. What I've heard is there is a little grinding involved for the starter and flywheel. The thing Ineed to worry about is power steering mine is out of a combine and has no pump on the motor so I have to get some hyd. pressure somewere. Other than that it bolt right to the bellhousing I'am not 100% sure on the flywheel clutch combo to use but I have both so I guess I find out when the time comes. Be nice to surprise some people at the pulls.

Il have to ask him again for more details next time I talk to him. I do remember him saying he used 190 frame rails (there a little bit wider). Hecut the 19 frame rails off at the radiator, because the 190 are about 1/2" wider so he bolted them to the outside of what was left of the 19s. He also used the hydraulic pump on the motor so it has live hydraulics.

Unless you just want a 301, the 200 (2/3 of 301) has plenty of power for a D19 and frame will not need stretched.

why would it not need to be stretched??

The 301 is a little longer than the original 262, or so I've heard. The 200 engine is a 4cyl and is shorter than the 262.

Il have to check, but I dont think length was the deal with using the 190 frame rails, It was the width. The 190s are about an inch wider.

Joe how about a 433 out of an F3. Same as the 6080. Its 4 cylinder turbo. Sitting in my shop you can hear it run.

I've always thought that a 433 T would be real neat in a D-17.

The 433 would still run into the same problems as far as width.
