I have a 80s sickle mower, and I got some questions. A few of sickle sections has a "H" stamped on them. This is the type, so all I have to do is find new ones that are stamped with H from TSC or Orschlins. Is the H the correct section? Can I convert them from a rivet to bolt style? Has anybody made a bracket to use the mower straight up, so I can trim trees/bushes? Thanks

What is your 80S mounted on?? I have one on a D14 and it has a rod that is used to hold the bar in a vertical position for transport and such. It would also work to trim trees or bushes in this position. The rod on mine is original. I could maybe get you some pics if you'd like.

Mine is mounted on WD45, it is tricycle front with a loader, talk about strong arm steering! Please send some pictures, that would be great!

The H probably stands for Herschel, a company that makes sickle parts.

Well now I know I am just an old country boy, but someone is going to have to explain how you are going to run that sickle in a verticle position....

I didn't believe it until I had one. The best way to describe it...pto shaft runs a belt, this belt then drive the sickle gear box, so it can operate any position because the gear box pivots with the sickle mower. Also, it has a trip mechanism that when you hit something the mower arm breaks back, making the belt loose so it is not being driven, then automatically springs back.

you can run the ac 77, 80 and 82 series mowers in any position because of the twin wheel design there is no pitman

if it's an 80 series it should have an A stamped on them, may want to check again or if you have one off you can take it with you to TSC and match it up.

been there done that, not doing it again...

I'm wrong on the A, checked my knives and the end one has a H stamped in it,that one comes in seperate package. One of the old knives that I found also had a H stamped on it..I don't see why you can't convert to bolt on as Sickle Service sells them that way also.

I had an 80S mounted on a D-12  seems that if you could operate it straight up, all the brush would fall in you lap.  After a few feet, you would look like a mobile brush pile.

Well, if it ended up in my lap, I wouldn't have to pick them from the ground, yet another labor saving device. I will wear a hard hat. LOL.

It's me again, I just couldn't get it out of my mind so I went out to the barn today and checked the old broken sickle bar(broke the head right where it bolts to the cross bar) I had just put new knives on it...got them from TSC and they do have an A- stamped on them, the end on has a H stamped on it...HTH.  ps. mine is a 80-R
