| Tomorrow I will be in Shipshewana, IN between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm while my RV refrigerator is being rebuilt. Can anyone recommend a good place to have lunch, and are there any farm equipment dealers in the area that I should check out? Any Allis collectors near there that want to get together and talk tractors? |

| I work in Middlebury, about 5 mile east of Shipshe. In Shipshe The Blue Gate is pretty good. If you still have something to drive, I would suggest you drive to Middlebury to The Essenhaus (west on US 20) or downtown to The Village Inn, both of which are excellent. If you have a significant other with you, The Essenhaus would most likely be a hit, it's a touristy place with shopping. As far as dealers, there is a Deere dealer in Howe, about 5 or 6 miles east of Shipshe on IN-120. Just south of Elkhart on IN-19 is Meyers Implement. I have dealt with them many times, they usually have a big assortment of used equipment plus they have a bone yard. I think they have limited hours on Saturday so call ahead. Have a safe trip. |

| In a few weeks I will be going thru shipshewana every day hauling seed corn from the field in michigan to the processing plant in rushville indiana, I like that town, lots of amish in that area, maybe I will see some of the folks on here while I am there. |

When i'm in Three Rivers I try to get to the Blue Gate to eat. Also there is a big flee mkt there I'm not sure of the dates . Scott ------------- Allis Chalmers still exist in my mind and barns |

Ben (MI) suggestions are right on. If you are at the Blue Gate you have a lot of places within walking distance to shop. Yoders Hardware is a nice place to check out as well. That is where I buy my Round House bibs. Shopping at the Essenhaus as well. Dixie likes to do both. Food is good out on 20 at the corner where you turn south to Shipshewana. Not sure of the auction dates but that is a good place to eat but only open when the auction is on.

| I looked at my maps from last year and it looks like jerry had about 10 fields that got hauled. I don't have to go thru any scale houses, just have to watch out for portable scales, I take back roads and come out at exit 78 onto 65 then down to exit 26. |

Glad to hear that, I ate at the Blue Gate many years ago and really enjoyed the food, glad it's still there!

| dave...what's wrong with the fridge in yer RV? if it just quit work'in...take it out, turn it upside down for a day, the upright it, and let sit for another day, put it back in...9 times outta 10 it'll work again! unless it's on warranty, then let them do it! that's what most RV dealers do to them when there is problems! |

| I took it to our local tractor show (MMOGTA) last week. The fridge wouldn't light on propane. When I checked it out, I found that the refrigerant had leaked out. National RV in Shipse says this is not uncommon with the model of Dometic that I have. There was a recall on mine a couple of years ago, which according to National RV, consisted of installing tin shielding around the burner to prevent fires in the event of a refrigerant leak. He is going to replace my entire cooling unit, which takes 3 to 4 hours. I need to use the RV next Thursday, so I need to get the fridge fixed and back in. National RV warrants their rebuild for 3 years, and will warrant for 5 years if I pay cash or check. That is the best warranty I have found for a rebuild, and their price is reasonable compared to others I have checked. The RV is a 2002 model, so warranty is long expired. |

Also, there is a grocery just south of the auction house on the same side of the road(east side). Go there and browse and for sure sample and buy some of the cheese's. They are extraordinary!!!!!!! They sell staple groceries like flour, spices, beans and rice in bulk! It is a treat to just look around!! Take plenty of money cause you'll find lots of stuff to buy, much of it things you wont find anywhere else! Have fun! ------------- You don't really have to be smart if you know who is! |
