Question from a newbie. I'm looking at a 5670. Are there any cons about this model that I should be aware of? I'll be moving bales, gravel, snow and dirt, brushhogging, digging post holes etc. Any help would be appreciated. |

| Forgot to ask. I have a westendorf loader and attachments. The 5670 has a GB660 loader. Will my attachments work on both loaders? |

I don't know about the tractor, but I am pretty sure that Westendorf is doing their own thing on the attachments, and most likely won't interchange with others. You might get lucky and be able to adapt the hookup things from Westendorf to your new loader, but I doubt the arm width would work out. Maybe now is the time to adapt all of your equipment to the more universal skid steer hookup? Might be rather expensive to do. Are brackets available to switch your current loader between the two model tractors as needed? Try and trade the Great bend for another westendorf? Might be able to make the trade cheaper than adapting all of your attachments. It is amazing how easy it is for me to spend someone else's money. ------------- If it weren't for the last minute, I wouldn't get anything done! |

Know a guy who has one. He loves it , says it starts easy in winter , due to being air cooled.
Reading on here though that someone had one and didn't like the ergonomics of it. ------------- If it ain't orange it ain't worth ownin' |

| That was me about the ergonomics...My grandpa bought our AGCO 5670 FWA new in 94. My dad and I tried to talk him out of it because we didn't feel as though it was well suited for Row Crop work and we had no intent of putting a loader on it. My grandpa like that he could get on and off of it easy. The positives of the tractor are that the drive train has been very reliable...the engine/trans/hydraulics no problems around 2300 hrs. Starts great in any weather conditions...excellent fuel economy. Now for the negatives...Noise...It is an obnoxiously loud tractor better have earplugs handy, controls are located in horrible positions..in fact my dad sent the tractor back to the dealer after it arrived because the hydraulic levers were darn near behind the seat!! They ended up modifying them with extensions so you could access them better. steering wheel placed in uncomfortable position with no tilt option. Right hand throttle and right hand reverser so even if we wanted to put a loader on it..it would be unhandy. I hate to sound so negative about the tractor because it really has been a good tractor for us, but just so poorly designed ergonomically like what were they thinking? anyway feel free to pm me for more info. |

We have one with between 5 and 6 thousand hours. Had a couple of 5680 before. Dad wanted smaller loader, easier to get on and off. All the controls are almost impossible to get to, no thought given at all to this part of the tractor. We have had to fix one final drive on the FWA about $4000 when we were finished, frequently break or have fall out the pins in the FWA driveshaft couplers, have had one of those wear the splines completely out of, broke a couple PTO shafts off flush with the housing, these are very frail, if you see any twist in the splines or bend, order a new one as the parts are near impossible to get overnight, it will not last long. They are very loud to run, but whne you have 40% of your hearing left and always wear ear plugs, not that big af a deal. Make sure the fuel gauge works as we have replaced a couple sending units in the tank and when the last one quit workingabout 3000hrs no thought was given to replacing it. The fuel light still works. The fuel tank is too small for any kind of heavy work unless you carry a portable tank in your truck or other means. Not nice to work on changing alternator or fan belt. Easy tractor to split as we have changed both pto clutch disc and clutch disc, at separate times. (don't even ask how much time elapsed between splitting it). The three point hitch control is not near as nice as the AC operating mechanism and reaction. You can move the forward reverse lever to the left side of the seat if running a loader without too much effort and creativity, we have not but seen many that have. Very easy on fuel, steering tie rod ends and steering cylinders need replacement frequently, the adjustable track rims do not stand up to a loader, they will crack out but we made a big washer (so to speak) out of 1/2" plate and welded it into the front rims years ago and they are not causing trouble now.

Was that one that went back to the Coldwater factory or Independence for rework and new warranty. I am painfully ignorant about this or most tractors, however I did drive over to the dealer and took it for a spin. Is it possible that somewhere along the line Agco fixed the ergonomics issues? This 5670 had the joy stick control; the hand throttle was perhaps a little too far forward but long enough that it made little difference. The gear shift and Hi/Low levers were just in front and to the right of the seat seemed like a natural fit for my hand to find. Parking break lever was not in the best place, easy to get to, but easy to catch your foot on too. All in all it was very much better than what you described. Noise level was less than my 27 HP zero turn mower when the blades are engaged. I do where head phones when using the ZTR and will probably, if I make the trade, will use it on the 5670 for any long sessions. Maybe I'm worrying about a non issue, but the air cooled has me worried. I guess I'm old school but engines should have radiators. |

| As far as i'm concerned the engine is the best part of the tractor... so if your happy with the comfort I say go for it. All I know is that on our farm when everyone had a choice to sit on the 170, 210, or 5670 the person who drew the shortest straw or was the slowest got the 5670. |

| The small to mid size horsepower tractors offered by Agco from that era were all built by SAME tractor in Italy.Evidently it was either cheaper or easier to buy these tractors and have them rebadged in Agco trim than to produce their own.The 4000,5000,6000,7000, and 8000 series all had issues of various reliability standards.There were many field campaigns and other warranty items to contend with.Some were a fix as fail problem, others involved sending the tractors to Coldwater for a more extensive rework.Larger flywheel and cluthes in some and new engine oil pumps in others come to mind.I don't think Agco sold alot of any of the series,but for the mostpart I think they have decent reliability.The engines were good and the tractors can probably be bought cheaply. |
