I have always had a problem controling the height on my 3PH Bush Hog with the hydraulics; the lift arms always seem to "leak down" and I have to continually reset them
I devised an adjustable "stop" bar for the lift arms on my D-17 when I had the Bush Hog on it last year.
This year, I'm using my WD and I had to devise an adjustable stop for it as well.
The stop works well but I am curious as to what you other guys do.
Or.......am I the only one who has the problem? LOL

I used scrap parts I had lying around including some "green" stuff.
Oh, its Deutz-Allis, at least.
Tried to keep it in the family. LO

If you have exposed cylinders as on a WD or WD 45 you can use a series of cylinder depth stops which are merely spring collars that snap around the cylinder rams and can give your bush hog the height you need. Use them on a Woods 3 pt on a WD 45. Obviously only works if you have exposed cylinders. I bought the tractor and mower as a unit and it already had them on it. Dennis J

Now Eldon, that would be nice! I've graduated from a WD to 2 WD-45s to a SII D-17.
I guess the next step should be a 170 or 175.
Now......I just need to find one cheap enuf for me to afford. LOL

| Replaced the seat in the hold position valve a couple of years ago and now it will hold a plow up indefinately. I have a D17 S1 with the transport valve and it will leak down in a hour. I always assumed it was the transport valve but maybe not. |

2 pieces of 1/4 or 5/16 chain about 30-36 inches long. 2 hooks. 4 pieces of 1/4 or 5/16 thick steel, 2 inches wide and 6-8 inches long. Drill the end of 2 pieces of steel to fit on the lower lift pins, weld the end of a chain to the other end of each. Drill the other 2 pieces of steel to fit the top link at the tractor, weld a hook to the other end of each of these. With a long pin you can leave the third link on and use these chains to control and adjust the height. Have used this on the D15 and the B, might have to do something else on the WD due to the platform.. Just make sure you tie up the loose ends of the chain after you get it set. Gets way too close to the PTO if you don't. |
