My C has the  1  1/8" PTO shaft and I'm having a little trouble with the mower drive pulley and the adapter sleeve - makes the pulley wobble and want to walk off the shaft after an hour of mowing.
So I'd like to change to the newer 1 3/8" dia shaft - I have a hyd pump, so I need the cam  as well.  Parts list seems to show that all the 1 3/8" dia shaft had the cam so that shouldn't be a problem.
So is the shaft all I need to find?  Or are there other parts that would have to be changed?  Hard to tell from the parts list, but it looks like a pretty simple plug and play kind of change - unbolt the cover, slide out the old shaft, slide in the new one.  However I am seasoned enough to know that there is likely a bit more to it.......
I wonder how hard the larger shafts are to find, seems like there should be quite a few of them out there.

Also my flat belt pulley is a noisy rattling thing that drives me a bit nuts.  I'm thinking I don't really need it, I'm running the mower off the PTO so why not take it off.  Just pull it and put a cover plate over the hole.  Or will the missing shaft etc. cause something else to fall out of place?
cheers,
Creek

Okay..........never mind!  I just read thru the parts list a bit closer and see the whole power take off housing is different.  And the bearings, retainers, seals etc.  Looks like I might just try a better 1 1/8" to 1 3/8" adapter instead of the sheet metal crap one.  Or find someone parting out a newer C.
cheers,
Creek

Do what we did when we sold them.  Get a new PTO with the 1 3/8" drive on it.  That way you will have all you need to bring your shaft into line.  While you are at it see if you can find and ASAE draw-bar for the C.
Where do you get them?  First I would try e-bay.  Surprising what you find there.  Look under Allis Chalmers B Tractors too since the PTO is the same just 1 3/8" drive.  Last time I looked it seemed like there is always someone parting out a tractor selling parts and assemblies.
Be sure you get the ASAE draw bar hitch right.  Since if you do not have the rite measure the pto will rattle on hard turns and wear out the U joint bearings.
Good Luck!

PS:  Someone will have the correct measurements so you can make a ASAE draw Bar if needed.
