| I have to appeal this question to the folks who will definitely know...Could a farmer who wanted a hi-crop Allis WD or WD-45 in the 1950's order a model from his local Allis dealer or would he be forced to build one himself? Is the Hi-Crop a FACTORY offering, not just a tire/rim/center option in the parts book? I'm familiar with the conversion company's offerings, but as you can guess, this is a pulling club question. I have the same question. Recently, I acquired a WD with 38 inch rear tires and with other differences like no PTO unit and extensions in the front axel spindles. Were there any other differences and did these come from the factory? Thanks. ------------- A(1937), 2 G, 2 WD45 diesels, 6 WD45 gas, UC, 2 WD, D17 gas, WF, Farmall 400, D12, Kubota B3030 |

I would have to say yes it was factory offered. You do see the "special" parts offered with the High crop in the factory parts manual. the taller front spindles for the wide front, and the taller front "yoke" for the single front, How ever I did not see anything with the dual wheel narrow front for the high crop. ------------- Unless your are the lead horse the scenery never changes!! |

Heres a question....
With all the High Crops, were they able to use any snap coupler equipment at all?

I really can't help on most of the questions, but this is DaveinGB's 45 highcrop which I'm pretty sure has 38's on it...hopefully He'll see this post and chime in with some details.

I do not have Pop's price book with me but from my memory, the high crops were ordered from the factory with high crop wheels, spindles, and whatever else was needed. It was also noted in the book that these units with the high crop attachments were not for heavy tillage use. It seemed the high crops were for cultivation and such only. Good Luck! Bill Long |

38" rears are listed in the WD-45 parts book. Found this for a friend a few years ago who needed to know for the same reason. ------------- Nothing is impossible if it is properly financed |

| Thanks for posting a picture of my 55 sfw Hi-Crop Chad. Near as I can tell, this tractor was used to pull a sprayer in the vegetable fields in calif. It had allis 38" power shift wheels from a D-series. It was missing the hydraulics and in place of the snap coupler hitch, it had a HD homemade hitch. The single front wheel with the tall fork is original to the tractor. I put the 8 to 9bolt rear wheel adapters and wheels and rims on it as shown in the parts book. It rolls down the road at a pretty good clip! |

I measured the holes on my 38 inch wheels. It does not look like the WD, WD45, etc weights would work on these wheels due to differences in spacing. ------------- A(1937), 2 G, 2 WD45 diesels, 6 WD45 gas, UC, 2 WD, D17 gas, WF, Farmall 400, D12, Kubota B3030 |
