I'm sorry if this is a dumb question but I have a 1952 CA that arrived here without a battery in it.

So before I can do anything else with her I need something to put in that box.

I don't know much about batteries; can some kind person tell me what I should get?

The first thing to do is find out whether it's still a 6 volt system or whether it has been changed over to 12 volts.

Does it have a 6V or 12V system? A 6V system has a generator (with cutout on top) and 3 position light switch; a 12V will has an alternator. Lots of differing opinion whether to maintain the 6V or convert over to 12V. Both work well when done right. It's your tractor and pocketbook so you decide.

Sorry. It was converted to 12 volts. The guy also gave me the old generator he took off it. Apparently he doesn't have his own junk pile.

i use group 26 r 12 volt batts. in my tractors ( wd ,s - ca,s -B,s - C,s ) they are about the same size as the old 6 volt batt. they fit well in the batt. box,s about $50.00 at wall- mart.
