do you know what it looks like? I have a pretty big piece that I saved but don't know if it is what you need. it is pretty fine. I don't even know what size piece you would need. If it isn't to big and isn't to fine I could probably mail you a piece in a standard envelope.

Its just like the screen on your house windows but is brass i might beable to save mine, it has a small tear because i sat the motor on the ground for a moment and it made a small hole. Im going to finish the engine today, so seeing if anyone has an idea where to buy it? Tryed the local hardware stores, but nothing found.

I grabed some aluminum window screen and plan on using a few layers.

I would look for a piece of stainless steel. would be cheaper than brass and a lot easier to find. And a little tougher then aluminum.

I would also try the stainless idea, remember part of the reason for brass was stiffness.  When the oil is cold, the pump will colapse anthing like screen door stuff, or most anything made out of aluminum.
