Hello,
Missing the rod from the carb to the governor. We thought we could use a rod off a B, but it is too long.
We found our throttle is the same as an RC and the linkage connecting the throttle to the long rod going to the governor pivots below the pivot point of the throttle. The B & C connect to the throttle above the bolt that hold the throttle.
2 questions:
1. Is the WC throttle lever correct for an RC rather than the B?
2. What is the length of the rod from the carb to the governor on an RC as we may need to make one. ------------- Thanks Most Bad Government has grown out of Too Much Government- Thomas Jefferson |

My RC has a throttle quadrant the same as a B but the lever is different than a B or WC and the rod from the carb to the governor is the same as the B, 11 1/2" center to center with a couple bends. ------------- Waukesha B, B, IB, G, styled WF, D17, 615 backhoe, M7, 2-Oliver OC3's, 5 Ford Model T's, 3 Model A Fords, 34 Ford coupe, 57 T-Bird |

I went and measured and our governor linkage is also 11 1/2", so that is ok. I sent you an email of our quadrant-can you confirm it is different from yours? That looks like it, the casting # is AM2986 on mine which matches all my B's and C's. On my RC the quadrant is mounted on the left side of the steering post rather than the right like yours. Our quadrant has the same casting #. It seems to be the throttle lever itself that is the problem. Changing sides won't change things as where the rod connects to the throttle lever is the problem. With it connecting below the bolt on the casting, it moves the governor the opposite way it would than if it were attached above the bolt as the B/C's do.
Would love to see a picture of the throttle lever and measured length as it sounds like we will need to make one.

When you move to the other side you will be pulling on the lever which is pushing on the rod to throttle up where now you are pulling on the rod. Here is a pic of mine, I looked at pics of other RC's and they are all on the left, opposite of B's and C's.

| don't forget that on an rc, full throttle is when the throttle lever is all the way back, not front. they operate opposite from the b-c, although they look the same.... |

Yes, Lonnie, that did work! Your picture really helped.
We still ran into the length issue on the governor rod to the carb. For some reason, the governor arm is bent differently. It looks factory, but maybe not. I took a picture below of the straight governor arm next to the one we have on the RC and the problem of the length of the rod becomes clear.
Putting fluids into the tractor and found a small crack in the PTO housing :( Had to go to the 3rd parts tractor to find one that wasn't cracked...

Is there a difference in the governor rods from various years of B's? The curved rod is from a salvage yard B. The straight rod is what was on the RC, but the governor was welded up so we put the B one on not checking to see if a difference. OK, here's the deal. I compared all of my B/C/CA/RC tractors and I'm guessing the rod you have is for a non electric model and has been bent back to clear the belt. Below is a pic of the rod on my non electric B and the next pic is what all the rerst of mine have which also all have electric start.
