I've  been to heck and back looking for a starter drive return spring for a wd45. Checked two napas, an o rielly's, a tractor dealer and a wad of time online.

My drive is OK I just need a return spring. Am I going to have to buy a whole bendix?

Its not so simple, its specific for that Bendix. Try a starter shop. But I expect the Bendix is more worn than you think and so in the long run a new Bendix will prove to be a good buy.

I ordered one  from  from a local napa store a couple of months ago.
Found the receipt.......  napa part #656-1500
   Tax and all $13.20
I ordered it from Gulf Breeze napa #(850) 916-6272
I see that you found one but  maybe this will help someone in the future.

I figured those no good SOB's just didn't want to mess with it.

I couldn't imagine them not having a spring of that sort.

I've gotten a lot of parts for my tractors at napa, as long as i get the right person. some just don't want to take the time to get the book out.

I have to put ion a plug for JimIA. He is behind the parts
counter at Franzen Sales and Service in Fort Atkinson, IA
563-534-2724. If it is available for an Allis, Jim will find it
for you. He and Wally always do a great job.
