| Snug and then a schosh more. Don't overtighten. Factory service manual simply sez to tighten evenly and don't crush the cover. |

5/16 18 bolt coated in nickle neverseize has a k factor of .158 stress level of 15000 psi would be 20 inlbs 30000 is 39 inlbs 45000 59 inlbs. t=k.d.og.ag/n.12
t=assembly torque value
k=nut factor
d=nominal fastener diameter
og=target gasket stress (psi)
n =number of bolts
Ag= gasket stress area (in^)
12= conversion to Ft-lbs

The ones who amaze me are the ones who dont comprehend mechanical engineering like Garry. The guy asked for a torque value I gave him one .Then told him how to figure one for the compressability of cork /fibrous gasket so that he wouldnt squeeze it into or out.
