I just finished installing the 3 point hitch kit on my 40 B that I had wanted for some time. I was standing on the drawbar giving myself rides up and down and of course marveling at my accomplishment. I don't know how long she was there, but I looked up and there was the wife shaking her head.
I quickly explained I had to adjust the kunuter valve....she just doesn't understand.

You know, I really love my wife. Wonderful Lady. I am sooo lucky. That said she is a city gal. Just don't understandhow a mature man can go nuts over old iron. When she sees me give good money for an old Allis Chalmers ad that I threw away years ago she does not understand. Love he though. Would be lost without her. Congratulations on getting you three point working well. The 40 B never knew what a three point hitch really was. Take good care of my favorate. Good Luck! Bill Long

Congrats on the 3 point. It seems no matter what you do there is always someone to see you do it, the better the stunt the more people see it and the faster word spreads of what you have done.

I got in trouble last year, I went to an auction that had 7 IB's my wife gave me the green light to by 2 if the price is right and sell 1 with enough profit to try to get my money back. Well i bought the first IB good deal, then there was this model F fordson. My great grandfather sold them in the day and i always thought i should have one. So i spent the money on the Fordson and now i can't part with eather. She acted mad but she didn't waist any time getting on that IB when it got home.
Sometimes its better to ask forgiveness then to to ask permision.
------------- The universal answer to all questions is yes, how much do you want to spend?

It's always easier to get forgiveness than permission.

So I always wave toward the house with a big grin even if I don't have a clue where she is, that way my ass is covered...

Well you need to explain to her that the proper adjustment for the knuter valve is critical part of the instalation if done wrong the knibler pin could be bent the muffler bearings would be out of alignment, and god only know what would happen to all the blinker fluid!!! you just cant risk it!!!!

Or explain that a hydraulic system needs to be 'bled' of air, and the only 'real' way to do it, is to have a little load on the ram, so that air pockets are forced out, rather than remaining trapped in the upper edge of the cylinder...
Which is, by the way, an excellent way to push out aereated fluid when you let the reservoir run a smidgen TOO low...

Good story! Just be fast to think of a reason. It doesn't have to be good just a reason. That is the way it goes right?

The most important thing is to carry on as if what you are doing is critical. Never suddenly stop and have the appearance of doig something stupid.

I should take Jim D's advice but I don't. Everytime my wife comes in the shop and says somthing I nearly jump through the roof even if I'm doing nothing wrong it still looks like I'm guilty. I need to set up a warning device. LOL

------------- Why is there never time to do it right the first time, but always time to go back and fix it?
