I've never seen one.

Do you have a picture of an example?

It's a great day!

Best regards,

Mine has a homemade on it. You could add whatever you like I suppose. The spindle housings are also "bumped" out with about 4" sq. tubing. The spacer at TT is about 8-10" just looking at from house.

Have never found anything in AC book.   Have seen several made by present or previous  owners.  Herb

Once I get my G mobile again( starter issues),I'll be making one for myself. When I get the design right( has to be curved top and bottom),I'll get a friends CNC to pop a few off.Nice thing is once it's in the CNC memory it's  easy to make them.
I'm thinking an 8" long extension is about right ?

If you do it Jay, let me know when and how much.

Me and my father both stand around 6'4".  That extension would be a godsend.

Just put one on two weeks ago, had it made at a local machine shop.  Works great but I need to grow longer legs.  Measured from top bolt centers and bottoms.

Look's well done. How do you like those rolling cultivators? Are they the AC issue units? PS. Did you also space the spindle housings foward?

This thread speaks of these extensions as an operator comfort feature.  Are they needed to provide clearance on some implements? If so, which implements?

Thanks.

They were to provide clearance for for certain implements...for example the buddingh basket weeders in the photo above.

Stretching the G as is being done here is fine.  However, we had some problem with we put additional spools between the axle and wheel to widen the G.  If I recall we did this for about 8 inches.  In fact, it was factory authorized.  When the widened G was put to work, and I am not sure how hard the work was the axles continually broke.  Since this was factory authorized we replaced under warranty.  The breakage became so often that we eventually recommended to the customer and the factory that the warranty work be discontinued.  It was costly for the customer - down time - and frustrating to us since we were in the middle of a very busy summer season.
I was in college at the time so I do not recall the final outcome but it may be wise to carefully consider before taking action to widen the G.
Good Luck!

No, the Buddingh Basket weeder isn't issue (that I know of), they're still in business and we bought ours new last season (it's amazing).  We did put spacers in the front for easier turning (they had a pair on the shelf, 4").  They custom make the weeders for different tractors.

We didn't need the block spacer in the middle for it, but it does make easier to step on the clutch when it's up and it raises a little higher.  We did need the block spacer for a tine weeder.  I borrowed the idea from another farmer in the county, his I think is 4" and ours is 7"

It definitely easier to work with having that extra space.

Hello Bill.. I see you mentioning that you remember that widening the G was a problem with broken Axles.  This is important to me as one of my projects this winter before the growing season was to in fact widen up our G about 6 inches total.  When you say 8". Are you referring to each side going out 8 or a total of 8.  (4 a side).  Great that you have dealt with this stuff!!
