Hello,

I need to replace the rear crank seal on my Father-in-Laws D19 Diesel. I'm to afraid to go to our local NewHolland/AGCO dealer after I was charged $10 a bolt for clutch plate bolts on a 8N Ford Tractor. Anybody know of a good place to order one from? Thanks.

Just for a price range, a fellow got one for me. It was around $50. If that is on the low end of what you hear, I can look for the invoice and see where it came from.

It's about $100 for the rear seal for a 262 from AGCO. The rear seal can leak from either the crank seal itself, or the rear oil pan to rear plate seal. The crank seal mounts in the rear plate, not the block. The crank seal also doesn't seal on the crank, it seals hub of the flywheel. When you get the rear seal kit, (not sure its really a kit) you get the crank (flywheel hub) seal, you get a speedi sleeve to go on the flywheel, and the rear plate to oil pan/block seal. The pan/block seal is a rubber ring, kind of like a thick rubber band with a groove on the inside.

The way it all fits is the seal is pressed into the engine side of the rear plate. The seal has a ring with a lip on it that the pan/block seal fits over. I don't know if the rear plate can be installed with the oil pan in place, so you might want to get the oil pan gaskets too.

The engine really should be removed to do this job. As much work as it is, make sure you get all 3 pieces of that seal.

Yeah,that rear main seal on anything is something you don't want a "do over" on.

Agco was the only place I could find one. None of our local parts house's could cross the old National part number.

It cost about $100

AGCO it is. Been down this road too. Aftermarket is only avaliable if you buy an overhaul kit. I tried to buy a Victor and a National....no dice
