Every time I see something like this, I think of the Western Wheeled Scraper I could have had for hauling it off. It was missing the front truck and had a drawbar hitch added up front. I didn't seem to have the time to pay attention then because of work.

My old boss has a big Russel he pulls with an RD4. He has had it at our fall show a few times and can really cut a ditch in a corn field. ;)

just for curiositys sake what would you pull the Russell grader with? Is it old enough to be used with steam tractors or was it used with earlier gas ones?

If i can find the right one i plan to post the project here.
It was called the Russell Motor HI WAY Patrol No.1
i have the tractor. there was a post on the ag forum a while back with pictures.

37 usually they were pulled with a big crawler of some sort after cutting a ditch on both sides they would crown the center and call it a road. A big steam traction engine would work if conditions were dry.

I bought an orignal Russell liturature of an Industrial 6-12 with the HI WAY PATROL Grader.

Theres one like the GB posted in the first pic up about 35 miles from me. I could look and get photos if anyone is interested. It hasnt been restored but in its rusted condition it looked straight and all there with the hitch. It was more surface rust, couldnt see pitting from where I was
Another one, a little different style, is 50-60 miles south of me, restored and looks great.
