Has anyone put a root rake on an HD5?  A local welding shop has offered to build me one based on the size of the blade and HP of the rig.  It is a very good shop and they do a lot of work on older rigs like mine.  Wanted to know if anyone could offer any advice on this matter before I plunge into it.  We have cottonwood trees, alders, etc., and they grow like arboreal weeds up here.  Figured the best way to stop them or slow them down would be to dig up the roots.

rather than full root rake blade , might look at clamp or bolt on ripper shanks to mount to blade. Found HD5B blades seemed to be oversize for power machine has. My HD5G would move material faster than 5B as that had 9' blade.

You have Alder and Cottonwood, we have Black Locust and Honey Locust the scourge of tires here.  You don't kill the root mass and they come up like making popcorn.
