My neighbor uses only the skid loader. Cource he said something a couple weeks ago about making a payment on new equipment instead of paying Uncle Sam and now he has a new Bobcat with a cab and heat. Heck he don't even have to open the door to change from bucket to forks. Oh yea, it has a road gear too.

Not supposed to get too much snow with this storm but the weather man is saying coldest temps in over 10 years -15 or less. Guess I'll work on office stuff for a few days.

As much as 18" is predicted here, might be more than the CA can handle.

They're saying up to 2" of ice for us here in central Indiana.. This could get interesting with 35mph winds on the back side of the storm.. I have a feeling they aren't missing the forecast on this one either...

Andrew that sound a lot like the ice storm we had almost exactly 2 years ago, and there was some areas that didn't get power back for a month. For this week they callin for 40mph gust with some snow Tuesday night but not really talkin much accumulation yet. Otherwise just rain.

I'm only 24 years old so I dont remember a whole lot when I was super young.. the only big ice storm we have had that I can remember is back in 05 when we got 3/4" with no wind at all.. If this holds together I have a feeling this one will be much worse.. We were without power for 5 days back in 05.. I'm thinking well over a week for this one at best

It is already icing over here, the roadways are OK except the overpass and bridges are getting slick along with hill tops and I know my driveway is slick. I walked my spreader to put some deicer on, pretty slick, pretty slick, pretty slick. Forecast for 12-16 inches of snow then wind.
I know you good folks up north wouldn't think anything of this but I don't think it is funny, but, no choice here, we take what we get.
Just in case, I got my little generator out and tested it, that should ward off any evil spirits.

I got one CA hooked to the pto generator and another one ready to push. I went out today and drug the harrow on the drive to break up the ice. It sounds like most of our snow here is going to come late Tue, into Wed morning and I wont be out there at 2 in the morning so I'll do the best I can early Wed. I'll have to post some pics of the little snow hog in action. My house is 100% electric and finally last summer I found a 16 kw pto generator and got it ready to plug in, if the electric fails, all I have to do is move the tractor out of the garage and start the pto. I do feel lots better about this ice storm than I did 2 years ago but I still hope I don't need it. Take care out there everybody!

I remember one winter (1990?) using the 190XT with rear chains and Brillion multi-culture to drag around the hog lots to break up the ice just so the hogs could get from hut to waterer to feeder. The sows were laying sprattle legged everywhere and could not get there feet under them. That was a miserable day.

We're supposed to get anywhere on up to 24" by the time it's done. We'll see whats on the ground when it's all over. I think lately they hype up all the storms and they all turn out to be nothing.
That's one thing I love about my job as a rough carpenter foreman. Since I bring the work truck back to my house every night, I have a 6000 watt Honda generator at my disposal. Since I started bringing it home 6 years ago, I have never needed it once.

We had an appointment today in town so since I needed gas for the 45 and Liz wanted to pick up some milk and a couple other things we ran over to Wally world. Talk about NUTS, no not you Jeff, everybody in a 100 mile radius musta been at the store. I dropped her off and ran over to the gas station and it took her 45 minutes to get through the store and pick up 8 or 10 items. It took me near 20 minutes to get to a pump and fill (2) 5 gallon jugs and top off the truck. It kinda reminded me of what my sister in law said Atlanta, Ga was like when they predicted a half inch of snow. LOL
