A friend of mine gave me a 4 row front mount cultivator for a 45. It is typical of the ones I remember as far as framing goes. The difference is in the attchments. All I can remember were the spring trip shanks, and both Wendel and Swinford' books show these. My new cultivator however, has spring tooth shanks like a field cultivator with replaceable points or shovels. I've never seen another cultivator of the same age rigged like this. Evidently Alis made a few like this, cause everything is factory made. My buddy, who had AC's and 45's from this era has never seen anything like this either.  We're both 69 years old so we grew up in the WD-WD 45 days.

The spring tooth cultivators were very common here in Middle Tennessee, although in a two row version. They do a beautiful job, when properly adjusted. A-C had a 1 1/2" double ended shovel that worked well here.

We have a 2-row spring tooth cultivator for our WD.  Operator's book shows both types of shanks.

Thanks Lanny and Russ. I just knew that cultivator was factory, not a "made up" job. Just that you find off beat things like this in different parts of the country where their the "normal" thingy there. I really enjoy this forum where we learn things from all over the world, and from all the different experiences farmers have faced! God has truly Blessed us, and may he continue to. Be Happy, be well!  dipstick
