I know the D-2200 diesel and G-2200 gas engines existed. They were used in the HD-4 crawler, the 653 ?? and 615 backhoe loader and maybe a 500 forklift ??   They came around in 1965 -ish ?? when the 301/D-2800 and 265/G-2500 engines were used in the August 1964 mighty One-Ninety farm tractor.  The turbo'd 301/D-2900 came with the One-Ninety XT in 1965.  I'm trying to determine if there ever really was a D-2400 engine ?? a 4-cylinder version of the six cylinder 301/D-2900 with a turbo ???   Or was the first 4-cylinder turbo version the 433-T and 433-TI ?? in 1978 ??   One thing I do know is the D and G-2200's did not have a balancer in the bottom end of the engine. They only ran 2000 RPM. They also were only ever 50-55 flywheel HP.   The 433-series got the Lanchester style engine balancer and 2500 RPM which got them into the 100 flywheel HP range.  There's someone on here who used to work in the Harvey engine plant and I thought he might remember.

I have written this before, but there were plans for a direct injection 262 but per Terry Wood it 'didn't pan out' due to lower end longevity issues. They then turned to the 4 cylinder 200 CI. I can't be sure of the dates but I know they got a big order from BARKO loaders for the 433Ts just before they went into F2/K2 combines that was told.  The first ones had Holset turbos as they were about the only small turbo that would test out at 20 PSI constantly back in those days. AiResearch then vied for the business with a much cheaper turbo that held up.  In about 1980 they turned the exhaust in for clearance and added Bosch injectors. I think all early engines experienced hard starting due to the original 14.5 compression or something like that. I think the compression was upped 2 times - I know the late 6000's got increased compression and smaller tips to break up the fuel and not burn pistons at the higher comp ratios. The 4.33I made as much HP as the first 2900 in tractor form.   I always thought a 3 cylinder 426 would have been an awesome power plant at 284 CI.
