What was the reason for the change of PTO gear cover change? The tube to cover just ahead of it? Just wondering? Tracy

Sometime after the change to the front hydraulic pump, the internal lube pump for the power director clutch was eliminated and the power steering return oil was used instead to lubricate it. This required a way to keep oil levels between the two compartments level, so this tube was added.

It was a good design change. It was cheaper to build (elimination of one pump) and function wise just as good.

Eliminating power director lube pump might have made sense but putting the main pump up front was a huge step backward in my opinion, cost savings could not have been that much
