if you have the radio set 'kinda high' then shut of the truck, when you restart the truck does the radio come on 'kinda high' ,low volume or not at all ?

Seems like I have encountered one vehicle either of my own or somewhere in the extended family at some point that if the radio was left on it came on at a default volume…..seems a long time ago and no clue what vehicle it was.

well... this is what GOOGLE said....

2024 Ford F-150 owners report that the radio volume often resets to a default level (typically around 7) upon starting the truck, regardless of the volume setting when it was turned off. This behavior is a common complaint, often attributed to Sync 4 software updates and appears to be a consistent issue rather than a rare fault.

For the 2023 Chevy truck (Silverado/Colorado), the radio volume is intended to remain at the same level as when the engine was turned off, but in practice, many users experience issues where it defaults, resets, or goes silent upon startup.

Our ‘95 Suburban had a feature that would automatically adjust the sound system volume to compensate for road noise. It was a dial that sat behind the volume button, you could adjust that dial to increase/decrease that feature.

I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

my wife's 1019 Nissan stays where it was , LOUD,as she plays it LOUD.
I get in to move it ,start, then 3-5 seconds later get BLASTED ! 1-0 doesn't shut radio off volume control is useless for a few seconds.
HATE starting it up... yeah, old and cranky BUT it's a safety concern. NO WAY should the radio come on,let alone BLARING.....

No way should the radio come on?    Gosh, the 1970 IH pickup we had came on, because you know, in the good old days when you had to turn the knob that’s the way it was. You know, the days we should go back to. I use that truck because it’s the oldest thing I drove frequently.

Newer than 2012 the chances are will come back to whatever preselected volume was at UNLESS Battery Goes Dead.  Had this occur on Wife's 2017 Explorer, battery shot craps, she opened door and no lights, no Alarms.  Was down to 3.9v at battery.  Replaced Battery and she had to reestablish all her preferences on Entertainment System and the seat positions. Some have PROM units in the Control Modules(8 in the noted Ford) however they do not always retain a trained point.
