I currently have a wd45 diesel I'm looking to get running. Injection pump has been removed and rebuilt. I didn't remove it.. I'm curious about how to time the engine and pump. I'm guessing there's a mark on the gears.. any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a pipe plug in the rear plate on the block. In that opening there are marks on the front of the flywheel. Turn engine until FPI mark is centered in hole. You need to be on no 1 compression, if not turn engine one round. Take off valve cover or take out no 1 or 6 injector to make sure on no 1 compression. Remove the cover on the pump left side below the hydraulic head. Rotate pump until a marked gear tooth is one tooth to the rear of mark on housing. The pointer should now be close to the mark on the drive hub. Mount pump on engine, install gear so that three bolts will go in and then make sure that you can line up the pointer on the drive hub. If not move gear a tooth one way or the other. Hold pump shaft still with poi ter lined up, tighten gear bolts. You got it. Good luck.
